Champion’s Edge specializes in sports performance enhancement through mental skills training and counseling. Founded by Lee Tajonera, Champion’s Edge utilizes the principles of sport psychology in helping athletes develop the mental skills necessary for enhancing athletic performance and quality of life.
Coach Lee is a sport psychology specialist based in Manila, Philippines. He provides sport psychology services to athletes and coaches from different sports at various levels of competition and age groups. He served as the sport psychology specialist for the men’s basketball team of Far Eastern University at the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) when the team made back-to-back finals appearances in 2010 and 2011. He was also the resident sport psychology specialist for the Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines (ABAP) in 2011 and 2012. He has worked with the Loyola Meralco Sparks of the United Football League (UFL), the Ateneo de Manila Blue Eaglets UAAP Juniors basketball team, Enderun Titans men’s basketball team (NAASCU), and athletes in the following sports: archery, baseball, basketball (professional and amateur), boxing (professional and amateur), crossfit, football, golf (professional and amateur), gymnastics, swimming, and triathlon. He also conducts seminars and workshops on sport psychology.
Coach Lee is a former Associate Principal for Sports Development, Head Counselor, and English teacher at Ateneo de Manila High School. He coached basketball at International School Manila in 2006, and coached basketball and volleyball in Texas, USA where he was also a special education teacher for young children.
Aside from his work in the fields of sports and education, Coach Lee had stints in multinational organizations such as Allstate Philippines, Inc., Nike Philippines, Inc. and Terry SA, Inc. (Havaianas). He headed business development for GolfPH.com. He is currently the Sr. Sales & Marketing Manager for Cougar Athletic Trends, Inc. (PUMA Philippines).
Coach Lee has a Certificate in Sport Psychology from San Diego University for Integrative Studies where he had the opportunity to learn from prominent sport psychologists such as David Lavallee and Cristina Versari. He has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and postgraduate units in counseling psychology from Ateneo de Manila University.
He is a certified Double-Goal Coach of the Positive Coaching Alliance, a Stanford-based organization that focuses on positive coaching for youth sports, and is affiliated with the Association of Sport and Exercise Psychology of the Philippines. He is also a retail affiliate for Peak Performance Sports.
